The Spanish Radish
A few things about us.
We are a couple of Aussies who are big on travel, the great outdoors, food, and cooking and have spent the best part of 15 years traveling around the world.
For the last few years, we have been living in Spain after relocating from Australia, and then the UK (yep, we’ve traveled a lot!).
At first, we lived in Madrid and now we’re hanging out on the Mediterranean Sea near Valencia with our little dog, Nochi, who’s also the unofficial taste tester!
We’ve completely fallen in love with Spanish food and culture and decided to create a food-focused blog to document all our experiences.
And here we are, in October 2021, thespanishradish.com was born!
The Spanish Radish Kitchen
Humble as it may seem, this is where the magic happens for all of the Spanish Radish recipes.
Our kitchen is a mere 30 square feet (around 3 m2) and isn’t equipped with the latest or most flash appliances. We literally arrived here in Spain with minimal equipment and have simply padded out the kitchen to our needs as we progress.
There’s not a KitchenAid to be found, just a 4 burner electric hob, an oven, and a Microwave.
We’ve also got a food processor/blender/nutribullet, a few old pots and pans (mostly from Thrift stores), and some ‘decorative’ plates and bowls that we found in the cupboard when we moved in.
One luxurious item we do own at the Spanish Radish is a good set of knives and I cannot stress enough how important good quality (and regularly sharpened) knives are for the enjoyment of cooking.
The Spanish Radish Recipes
The Spanish Radish is all about Spanish food that’s been made with love. We aim to recreate as many authentic Spanish recipes as we can and share them here on our food blog. We also experiment with new recipes and make stuff we discover throughout our travels in Spain.
Each week, we try to post 1-2 new Spanish recipes, complete with step-by-step recipe guides, and detailed info with everything you’ll need to get excited about Spanish cuisine!

After all these years, we’re still big on traveling and exploring Spain, and wherever we go food is our compass and is always a big part of any adventure we take. We make a regional foodie guide that’s crafted around the tastes and flavors of the region.
Whenever we take an adventure within Spain, we always sample the local Spanish cuisine and produce, and love getting this info out into the world so others can enjoy it too!
Whether it’s the best tapas bars in Madrid, top recipes from Andalusia, or exploring the Mediterranean Diet in Valencia, we’ve got something to share. All of our regional foodie guides are made by foodies, for foodies!

Our Spanish Radish Blog posts are where to find little nuggets of information about Spanish food, local produce, and other foodie news and tips we find helpful or interesting.
So far you’ll find info on the Mediterranean diet, the best award-winning olive oils of Spain (2023), a guide to Spanish wine, the essentials that you’ll find in a Spanish pantry, and how and when to use sweet, hot, or smoky paprika in recipes.
